TROSSACHS NARRATIVES
TROSSACHS NARRATIVES
Trossachs Textiles
The Trossachs Collection is a personal exploration into the notion of home. Home involves an interaction between nature, community and warm human contact. To achieve this, the Trossachs Collection creates a conversation between Scotland's traditional past, and the landscape's contemporary present. Through an exploration and personal connection to her home environment, Orla aims to translate the environmental experience into textile designs. With a focus on colour, texture and tactility, this collection encourages similar experiences of emotions and connections for the user. Inspired by local folklore, history, music and landscape of the Trossachs National Park, these influences intertwine and result in this collection of printed and embroidered double sided blankets.

Trossachs blankets represent metaphorical nomadic homes: Encasing the user in their very own transportable textile home, which may be taken anywhere. When wrapped in a Trossachs blanket, you are immersed in your own sense of place, of home, wherever you may go.

Sense of Place - Abstract Landscape Painting Weekend Workshops
When: 8th & 9th March 2025
Location: Libby Walker's Art Room, Glasgow
Tickets: Booking opening soon
What: Exploring landscapes from both visual and emotional references, through mixed media processes.

Available to book as individual days or full weekend.

The aim of these two days is to make time and space for creative play, experimentation, and to share ideas, processes and techniques that help you find:
-
ways to explore abstraction
-
ways to bring more personal connection and self expression to your art
-
ways to be more playful, improvise, feel loose and free in your painting
-
confidence to play and experiment with a wide range of materials
-
ways to reflect your experiences of nature and landscape
-
develop your own creative voice

Day one takes inspiration from visual references: Exploring how to abstract a landscape through play. We will be working from personal reference imagery, memories and sketches to create paintings and drawings that directly reference landscape.
Day two will focus on the emotive side of landscape: painting how places feel, by focusing on our own inner worlds - working from personal experience, memory, words and emotion to translate through mark, texture, line and colour.
In the afternoon of day 2 we will get the chance to combine these ideas explored across 2 days in a painting, to blend seen and felt responses of landscape and inner worlds together.
